The rarest spirit in the world, Louis XIII is made from 1,200 eaux-de-vie that are only found in the Grande Champagne region. It is then matured for up to 100 years in tiercon barrels that are over 100 years old. A cognac with the most sophisticated flavor profile ever obtained and unmatched aromatic richness has been produced by four generations of cellar masters who have succeeded one another. The fragrances of fig, prune, pastry dough, honey, and maple are present in the perfume. The palate of Louis XIII is lengthy and strongly woody, with layers of flavor appearing in the midpalate that include dried apricot, prunes, dates, figs, and vanilla. Finishes more oaky than fruity and succulent, but still elegant, warm, and smooth. Not much rancio at all.
